Don’t throw away those eggshells after peeling your colored Easter eggs. Here’s a cute springtime activity that is very appealing to most children. It works to stimulate imaginations and foster creativity. We did our collages on butterflies and flowers, but any shape will do. We also chose to keep things simple, but there is no limit to the materials which can be added to these cute collages.
These free Easter egg lacing cards are an excellent way for preschoolers to build fine motor skills and strengthen eye-hand coordination. When working with beginner lacers, it’s important to emphasize the in and out motion. I have my children say this along with me:
“Hello neighbor, goodbye neighbor, hello neighbor, goodbye neighbor..”
As the children work to weave, this chant helps to remind them that they should be sewing into the next hole, and not the one on the other side of the card. As young learners become more experienced, they will begin to use their helper hands to turn and manipulate the cards as they lace.
I recommend printing these on cardstock. Laminate, if possible, for heavy use. Happy lacing!
We are offering 2 free beginning sounds worksheets to go along with a farm unit. The first requires the child to write the letter that the animal begins with. The second worksheet calls for a line to be drawn from each farm animal to the letter it begins with.
