OUTER SPACE MEASURING WEIGHT TASK CARDS (COLOR 12/B&W 12)
Supply learners with a balance scale and the items presented on the cards. Small aliens, astronauts, rockets, saucers, and space shuttles can be found at party stores and/or on Amazon. Marbles and shooters make great planets. Asteroids can be made my wrapping small rocks in aluminum foil. Foam stickers and/or mini erasers may used for the stars.
Students will follow the directions on the task cards to measure the weight of the items provided. They will then determine which items weigh more, and which weigh less.
ROCKET SHAPE CLIP CARDS (COLOR 13/B&W 13)
Provide clothespins, mini erasers or some other manipulative for children to use as markers. Students will identify the featured shape and clip/mark its matching partner.
SHOOTING STARS NUMBER QUANTITY (COLOR 10/B&W 10)
Attach pipe cleaners/fuzzy sticks to the back of the stars using a hot glue gun or tape. Provide students with small pony beads. Learners will string a numbered group of beads each corresponding star. Encourage younger children to use one-to-one correspondence while counting. Older children can use this activity to practice set recognition.
OUTER SPACE TEN FRAME TASK CARDS (COLOR 10/B&W 10)
Provide mini erasers pom poms, vase gems, or some other small manipulative for students to use. Young learners will place a numbered group of items on its corresponding card. As children pick up and place each item, encourage them to say its number name (one, two, etc.).
SOLAR SYSTEM SEQUENCING STICK CARDS (COLOR 9/B&W 9)

Prompt learners to place the cards in numerical order (order of the planets). Teachers may also want to present different groups of cards (e.g., 4,5,_7,8), and have children determine the missing number (planet). These cards are also a fun way to teach ordinal concepts (first, second, third, etc.)
Tip: Hot glue these cards onto jumbo craft sticks to make this activity extra fun for little hands.
OUTER SPACE WRITING TRAY LETTER CARDS (COLOR 26/B&W 26)
Provide a shallow tray filled with sand. Sprinkle in some glitter for some sparkle. With a small stick or just a finger, learners will practice letter formation using the letter cards as guides.
MOON PHASES PLAYDOUGH MATS (COLOR 1)
Print and laminate multiple copies if needed. Using playdough, children will create the phases of the moon using the diagrams. An empty cardboard tube (toilet paper or paper towel) may be used to make the cutouts.
ROBOT RHYMING TASK CARDS (COLOR 10/B&W 10)
Provide clothespins or some other small manipulative for children to use as markers. Students will say the names of each picture and find and clip/mark its rhyming partner.
OUTER SPACE PICTURE WORD CARDS (COLOR 24/B&W 24)
Fill a shallow container with black aquarium gravel or black colored rice. Add plastic magnetic letters, glitter, and sequins. Learners will choose a vocabulary card, search for the letters, and build the word. Small cookie sheets make a nice working space and can be purchased at the Dollar Store.
These outer space picture cards may also be placed on word walls and in writing centers and dramatic play areas for easy visibility and access.

Provide clothespins or some other small manipulative to use as markers. Learner will identify each number and mark its corresponding die. Younger students may need to count the dots. Older learners should be practicing their set recognition skills.

Supply students with raisins or black or brown playdough. Learners will place a numbered group of seeds on its corresponding watermelon wedge. Encourage younger children to use one-to-one correspondence while counting. Older children can use this activity to practice set recognition.

Using the summer item cards, learners will work to construct the featured pattern on each cards. Encourage your students to describe each pattern.
Encourage children to say each picture name and clap and count each word part. They will then use a clothespin to clip the correct number of syllables.
Provide clothespins, mini erasers or some other manipulative for children to use as markers. Working with a small group, read the task cards and prompt children to mark the correct picture according to the featured positional word.
Learners will say the name of the featured items on the task cards. They will then sort through the letter cards, finding their beginning sound partners and placing them on the appropriate spaces. For your convenience, both upper and lowercase letters are provided. Magnetic letters or dry erase markers may also be used.
WATERMELON ALPHABET MATCH UP PUZZLES (COLOR A-Z/26/B&W A-Z/26)
Cut these cards in half and prompt young learners match the upper and lowercase letters.
SUMMER TREATS MEMORY GAME CARDS (COLOR 24)
Mix the cards up and place them in rows, face down. Prompt students to turn over any two cards. If they match, they keep the pair and go again. If the pictures don’t match, the cards are turned back over. It is then the next player’s turn. Play until all the matches have been made. The person with the most pairs wins!

FOUR LEAF PATTERN PUZZLES (COLOR 12/B&W 12)
Cut the cards in half. Children will use their visual discrimination skills to match the clover patterns.
Provide clothespins, mini erasers or some other manipulative for children to use as markers. Here, just to add a bit of magic, I used a paint brush to apply a thin layer of glue to the clothespins. I then gave them a a good dusting of green glitter and attached shamrock foam stickers to the ends.
Students will identify the featured letters and clip and/or mark their beginning sound partners.
ST. PATRICK’S DAY LACE-A-WORD TASK CARDS (COLOR 10/B&W 10)
Provide students with uppercase letter beads and lacing strings. Learners will work to thread and compose the words on the task cards. Note: There are 2 “RAINBOW” cards included (one with the top and bottom lines on the “I” and one without” to accommodate all bead kits.
LUCKY THE LEPRECHAUN ALPHABET CARD GAME PLAYING CARDS (COLOR 27/B&W 27)
This is a spin-off of the classic card game Old Maid. In a small group, shuffle and deal all the cards. Players will sort through their cards, placing any letter matches face-up on the table.
Starting with the dealer, each child will take a turn fanning out their hands so that the player to their left can draw one card. Some children may struggle to fan their cards, and that’s okay. Just make sure to emphasize that the children should try to not let the other players see their cards. As your students make letter pairs in their hands, prompt them to discard them immediately onto the table. Depending on how you’d like the game to play out, the player left holding the unmatched card, Lucky the Leprechaun, either loses or wins.
